The term “dollar” was taken from a widely circulated Dutch currency that traced the etymology of its own name back to the German term “thaler”.

In 1786, congress authorized the issuance of the dollar by the U.S. government.  In the past decade we have seen the unbanked of the world, who have no access to a "dollar" able to use non-traditional means of exchanging value. The world of finance is slowly changing with the information age. Due to this change it is making it easier for individuals to exchange goods dynamically.
